249 Arrests Made During Gang, Gun and Drug Operation
OMAHA (KPTM)- The United States Marshalfor the District of Nebraska completed a strategic violence reductionenforcement operation that removed over 249 individuals tied to gangs,violence, narcotics, and sex offenses.
This is the second straightyear for Operation Triple Beam in the Omaha metro area. It was a fifteen weekoperation to reduce criminal activity associated with gangs, violence,narcotics, and sex offenders.
249 total arrests were madeand 72 of them had gang affiliations. 67 firearms were seized. A wide varietyof drugs were confiscated. Officers also conducted 149 sex offender compliancechecks that resulted in 4 arrests.
"In addition to thearrests, seizures and immediate impact on gang and criminal activity, a strongU.S. Marshal / Omaha Police department relationship was made even stronger.Another benefit which is often overlooked is the sustainability factor whichresults from these enforcement collaborations. The bond and trust formed amongthese law enforcement officers during the 30 weeks of these two operations willtranslate intofuture sharedcommunications about crime suspects, wanted persons, and other crimeintelligence. This sustainability factor is a benefit not often publicized butshould not be underestimated because the focus of these types of operationstends to be on hard statistics", said U.S. Marshal Martinez.
This operation alsoresulted in the following significant arrests. Police said the following areinnocent until proven guilty.
Nikko Jenkins, alleged gangmember, upgraded to a major case by the U.S. Marshals Service, wanted for fourhomicides spanning eight days, was arrested by the Metro Fugitive Task Force(MFTF).Jay Witt, a "Hell's Angels"gang member, upgraded to a major case by the US Marshals Service, was arrestedin Omaha by the MFTF, wanted for the murder of "Hell's Angels" prospect WilliamFurlough.Terrence Cox, an allegedgang member wanted for the Homicide of Shamari Richards.Deandre Edwards, andalleged gang member, wanted for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Criminalimpersonation, Terroristic Threats, and Assault.Carlos Taylor and EricEnglish, fugitives wanted by the FBI safe streets task force from OperationPurple Haze for Distribution of Crack Cocaine, were arrested by MFTF and OPDgang unit.Albert Dansby, wanted onthree counts of bank Robbery was arrested by MFTF and OPD gang unit after acitizen called in a tip to" Crimestoppers."Mikeal Lloyd, alleged gangmember, arrested by MFTF for Homicide in South Omaha.Matthias Costello, wasarrested by MFTF and OPD narcotics unit for Distribution of Methamphetamine.Costello was arrested with a 9mm handgun, nearly 4 pounds of narcotics, a stungun, and over $4,500.00 dollars in cash.Caspian Ferguson, wanted onthree counts of Robbery and Terroristic Threats, Ferguson jumped from a thirdstory apartment building on "B" street and ran to another residence located on"F" street where MFTF and OPD gang unit officers took him into custody.All listed persons arepresumed innocent until proven in a court of law.The Metro Fugitive TaskForce is a partnership of law enforcement agencies from the Omaha PoliceDepartment, Bellevue Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's office, SarpyCounty Sheriff's office, Lancaster County Sheriff's office, Saline CountySheriff's office, Gage County Sheriff's office, Lincoln Police Department, LaVista Police Department, Council Bluffs Police Department, Iowa StateProbation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
