Omaha Woman has a Royal Birthday Celebration

OMAHA (KPTM)- Unless you've been living under a rock, you know Tuesday Americans elected their next president.

It was a close and sometimes brutal campaign.

Imagine being old enough to have lived through 17 presidencies.

One Omaha woman has done that, and is celebrating one-hundred candles on her birthday cake.

Hulda Eleanor Wilhelmina Finkbeiner Schmid's name is a mouthful, but she's earned it. "I just know it's another day for me, it's nothing new."

Schmid, sitting on a queen's throne and wearing a tiara, celebrated her 100th birthday Wednesday.

"I'm getting old," laughed Schmid. "Mighty old!"

She may be at the triple digits, but if life were measured in laughter, she'd be forever young.

In the midst of her big birthday celebrations, she had this advice to give. "Tell the truth all the time, and have a happy face," said Schmid.

Happy faces surrounded the infectious birthday girl, and with wide eyes and a clear voice, Schmid sang, "I thank you I do! I thank you everybody, I thank you, I do!"
