Bill SteckisOmaha (KPTM)- Anthony Garcia, a medical doctor suspected in four Nebraska slayings waived his extradition and will return to Omaha to face murder charges. Don Kleine, Douglas County Attorney, said he expected Garcia to be in the county court system by early next week. "Since he waived extradition, that means he will be brought back. I anticipate him being arraigned here in Douglas County either Monday or Tuesday," said Kleine.
When asked by Circuit Judge Mark Boie if he was returning to Nebraska voluntarily and understood a one-page extradition waiver, Garcia answered "Absolutely, yes."
"My client steadfastly professes his innocence," said Bob Motta, who along with his wife Alison, is representing Garcia in the extradition case and his prosecution in Nebraska. "The game is afoot. The state (Nebraska) has a heavy burden and we're going to put it to the test.""This has been a long process. There has been a monumental amount of work that has been done and there is a lot more to do," added Kleine.
