Bellevue Police Announce Increase In Old Towne Car Thefts

BELLEVUE (KPTM) - Car thieves are on the prowl in the Old Towne area, according to a tweet from the Bellevue Police Department Wednesday.

"I've noticed police around here a lot more," said Kay Bressman, a car break in victim.

Investigators warn against leaving something valuable in your car, especially if you leave it parked outside in a driveway or by a curb. They're also encouraging drivers to lock their car doors before leaving it unattended. FOX 42 News was told Wednesday nobody has been caught yet and descriptions for those responsible are limited.

"It makes me nervous," said Bressman. "The idea that somebody would be going around doing that is freaky."

Police say the crooks are targeting cigarettes, CDs, loose change and just about anything else they can get their hands on.

"Stay away from my car," said Bressman when asked if she had a message to the thieves. "Next time I'll turn the dog loose on you."

If you have a tip for the authorities, you're urged to give the Bellevue Police Department a call.
