Omaha (KPTM) - Friends and family of Council Bluffs woman recently diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer, held a benefit to raise money Sunday.

Angie Bothwell was told by doctors at the beginning of May that she was living with the condition.

"It takes a toll on your life, but I think positive and keep moving forward," said Bothwell.

Her husband Derek has had to go on-leave at work to help care for her and their five children. All between the ages of 6-13 years old.

The owner of the Hog Stop BBQ restaurant provided the location.

"Somebody needs something and we can give it to them," Mark Schamblen said. "A couple three or four hours out of our day is nothing."

Hundreds turned out for endless spaghetti and a silent auction.

Between auction proceeds and donations the family raised around $1500.

Angie has 22 days more of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. She's currently having them five days a week.

"Doctor seems optimistic about being able to shrink it," said Derek Bothwell. "Who knows? Miracles happen maybe it will shrink all the way."

People who would like to give money to the Bothwell's can make a deposit at any U.S. Bank. Just ask the teller to place the donation in Angie and Derek Bothwell's account.
