Copper Thief Strikes Iconic Omaha Restaurant

This time the crook hit up Johnny's Cafe; a historic restaurant near the heart of South Omaha that's been around for nearly 100 years."It's just disheartening," said Sally Kawa, a co-owner of the restaurant. "I can't believe someone would take the time to ruin everything for just a couple of hundred dollars in scrap metal."On Friday, repair crews were busy fixing what the person responsible broke apart. Following at least two other incidents within the past week that has the cost the business thousands of dollars, Johnny's is now left scrambling to replace air conditioning units."A lot of late nights and weekends I think to get this thing up and going," said Kawa.It's an experience that now has the owners thinking extra security. From guards to video cameras, they'll do anything to make sure theft of this magnitude never happens again.If you have a tip that could lead to the capture of the thief you're urged to call police as soon as possible.
