OMAHA (KPTM) - An Omaha city councilman was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after experiencing chest pain.
Garry Gernandt was at a news conference when he suddenly felt discomfort and had to go to the hospital. As of Thursday morning he was in serious condition.
A hospital spokesperson at Alegent Creighton Medical Center said that doctors are doing more tests and don't know when he will be released.
Gernandt said he has been resting and that his condition has improved. "My heartfelt thanks to everyone for their thoughts, prayers and well wishes."
Gernandt, 67, has been a member of the council since 2001 and currently serves Omaha's District Four.
