Creighton, Huskers Land in Same Region, City for NCAA Tournament

OMAHA (KPTM) - Creighton landed in the NCAA Basketball Tournament with the number 3 seed in the West Region, the highest seed in the school's history. Nebraska landed in the same region, meaning fans from both schools head to San Antonio on Friday.

"Once you hear your name it's really exciting but we played Louisiana our freshman year and they are really well-coached. We'll need to work hard to get it done," said Doug McDermott, Big East Player of the year.

Creighton and Nebraska are also both in neighboring brackets, so if both win, we could see an all-Nebraska matchup on Sunday.

Iowa State landed the number 3 see in the East Region, but will also play in San Antonio on Friday.

With all three teams playing in the same city on the same day, that means families with fans from two or more of those teams making travel plans will have it much easier.

Rose White with AAA Nebraska says some hotels in San Antonio offer extra deals, even a free shuttle to and from the games you should ask about when booking. "There are numerous hotels across the San Antonio area so depending on what your budget is first look at that, as well as some of the amenities offered by the hotel, which might include a free breakfast, as well as free shuttle service to and from the airport or even to and from the stadium," she says.
