Creighton's Application Requests Surging After Big East Move

OMAHA (KPTM) - It's no secret the Creighton basketball team is one of the hottest tickets in town. Now, that success combined with a recent move to the Big East is generating a big increase in application requests.

"I think we're witnessing basically the beginning of what I think is going to be a very long-term expansion for Creighton," said Trey Turley, a CU student from Kansas City.

That expansion could mean more students hitting the books. The university says interested applicants are up 50 percent after Creighton hopped aboard a bigger stage under the national spotlight.

"I think the move to the Big East has made people realize that we actually have everything you could possibly want in a college right here," said Andrew Ostapowicz, a CU student from St. Louis.

It's still too early to know how many of those new requests will actually turn into admissions. Right now, the university says there are about 4,000 undergraduate students at the school. One thing, however, is for sure: A bright future ahead.

"I just think we're becoming more and more relevant in the United States," said Turley.
