Crooks Caught On Camera Trying To Break Into Omaha Home
By: Melina MatthesMMatthes@kptm.comOMAHA (kptm) - A local woman tells Fox 42 News that two crooks are still on the loose tonight. She said they tried breaking into her home and car while she was sleeping, but couldn't get in. She said one of the two men approached the front door. He tried to bust it open, but damaged the weather stripping on the inside. "It really freaked me out, definitely." Out of fear, this local woman said she doesn't want her face on camera while Omaha Police look for these two men caught on camera trying to break in to her home near 42nd and "F". "He came up and opened this door and was jiggling the handle to see if it was unlocked." Her dog noticed immediately and started barking. She jumped out of bed to check her surveillance video and saw two men messing with her car. "He was twisting...I guess just twisting the windshield wipers and not just the part you replace but the metal part too." They also started letting air out of the back tire, but once they tried breaking into the car, she turned on the light. "I worry that if I hadn't turned that light on and they hadn't run away, that they could have come back with tools. They could have been planning on breaking in and that was just the first step you know, seeing if the doors were unlocked, seeing how loose everything was." She worries the crooks may come back or even target a neighbor, she asks anyone with information to come forward. In the video one of the two men was wearing a t-shirt that said "young reckless." If you know who these two men are contact Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP. You will remain anonymous and you could get a cash reward. "Like" Melina on Facebook and follow her on Twitter to stay connected.
