UPDATE: Omaha Police announced an arrest in the case Tuesday morning. Police said Dennis Brewer has been arrested for Criminal Homicide.
OMAHA (KPTM) - Friends and family of an Omaha man who was shot and killed Monday night gathered for a prayer vigil at Gallagher Park in Benson where he was killed.
Omaha Police are investigating a shooting that left 18-year-old Tielor Williams dead and his friend, 22-year-old Joshua Schmitt, injured.
The shooting happened after 9 p.m. near the pool at Gallagher Park on 52nd Street in Benson.
Williams' long-time friend, Marcus Jones, said he didn't understand why anyone would want to kill his friend.
"He was the goofball in the group. He was the guy that came up and was cracking jokes left and right," Jones told FOX 42. "He'd do anything to make you smile. He would give the shirt off his back if you asked. He would do anything, anything possible for you."
The grieving crowd said as sad as they were about the killing, they also wanted to smile about all the memories they made with Williams.
"Don't worry about tomorrow," Jones continued. "Live for today. You never know what's going to happen and that was Tielor. He lived every day."
No arrests have been made.
