COUNCIL BLUFFS (KPTM) - You may think of flowers and candy on Valentine's Day, but legal forums say divorce cases around this time of year are going up.

According to AVVO, divorce filings tend to increase a whopping 40 percent in the days leading up to February 14th. Closer to home, Lancaster County says it filed two divorces before noon Friday.

Sarah Wright of Council Bluffs is one person who ended her marriage on Valentine's Day.

"It was horrible when I woke up in the morning and thought to myself 'it's Valentine's Day and I'm getting divorced.'"

Wright is getting through her difficult time with the help of her three young children. Their home was even decorated in red Friday to celebrate the occasion of Valentine's Day.

Others, however, aren't so lucky from coast to coast. Romance experts blame the divorce increase on people reviewing their relationship around this time of year.
