Dodge Construction Leaves Motorists Frustrated
OMAHA (KPTM)- Forty days of frustration. That's how one Omaha motorist described the construction project that is underway on Dodge Street from 50th to 52nd Street.
"I will have to find a new route to work every day now," said Christine Nguyen of Omaha.
Construction began at 9 a.m. Wednesday. It is scheduled to be completed in 40 days. The city, along with Swain Construction will repair the street, gutters, and sidewalks. In an effort to maintain two lanes of traffic heading west and east, city traffic engineers said Dodge Street's center lane will be west bound-only when work is underway on the north side of Dodge Street. It will be used for eastbound-only traffic when crews work on the south side of Dodge Street.
"It's a pain in the butt," said Sherry Man of Omaha. " I think it will be very dangerous. People don't pay attention. They come up over the hill and oops, here comes another car in the wrong lane again. It's going to cause more accidents."
The construction project is scheduled to be completed by the first week of September.
