Hillsborough Complex Goes Up in Flames, Again

OMAHA (KPTM)- Firefighters got a two alarm fire under control Friday afternoon.

They were called to the Hillsborough Apartments near 146th and Maple. Firefighters said one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. They also rescued a cat.

12 units were damaged in Friday's fire. Firefighters said it happened at the same building that caught on fire back in December 2012. Firefighters said this fire was dangerous because it spread to the attic. Anytime the fire spreads to the roof there is a chance the roof could collapse.

This is the third time in less than 14 months that a fire has left significant damage at the complex.

The complex just added smoke free living options this month in response to smoking materials which caused the first two fires.

The last fire broke out at the complex back in March. That fire affected about 30 residents.

In December 2012 a fire left around 100 people homeless.
