Huskers Headed To Indy

IOWA CITY, IA (KPTM) - All the Huskers needed to do was winand win they did. It wasn't pretty, but with a 13-7 victory over the IowaHawkeyes the Huskers are headed to Indianapolis to play for the Big TenChampionship.

The Huskers battled high winds all afternoon. But took thelead late in the third quarter with a Rex Burkhead touchdown. Burkhead returnedto action in the second half for the first time since the Northwestern game.Burkhead had 16 carries for 69 yards and the touchdown.

The Huskers took the early lead with a Brett Maher fieldgoal on the opening drive. The Hawkeyes responded with a 1-yard touchdown runby quarterback James Vandenberg.

A Brett Maher 52-yard field goal with the wind at his backmade it a 7-6 Hawkeye lead in the third quarter.

After the game Head Coach Bo Pelini said the game was hardbecause the Hawkeye's came to play.

"We're proud of our team, and we give Iowa a lot ofcredit. They played hard. It was difficult. It was a game of fieldposition. I thought we did a really good job, other than the first drivedefensively, we played really good. We played physical. That's a physicalteam," he said.

The Huskers will take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a rematchon Saturday. The kickoff is set for 7 pm on Fox 42 News. The Huskers willattempt to win their first conference championship since 1999.

Tickets for this weekend's Big Ten Championship can bepurchased at beginning Monday morning.
