OMAHA (KPTM) - Big Red will become Big Black this Saturday when the team takes on UCLA at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskers will switch out jerseys in favor of the alternate Adidas uniform unveiled in June. It's a change stirring up a lot of positive feedback throughout Omaha.
"It seems like more of a mysterious look," said Kevin Hotz. "It's like the darkside and we're coming through.
Hotz is a die-hard Nebraska fan who ironically lives in Los Angeles. He made the 1,500 mile journey to be a part of an experience unlike any other.
"I went to the game last year and it was painful, so the blackout is exciting. Maybe it will amp the team up and we'll win," said Hotz.
"If it's for the better, I'm for it," added Rick Murtha, another Husker fan.
Big Red also sported alternate jerseys last year when the team took on Wisconsin in a regular season game. Nebraska went on to win 30-27, so some people are hoping the uniform will provide a similar spark.
In addition to the change in uniform, the Huskers have also changed their logo. You may have noticed the black script is being phased out and is getting replaced by a more traditional font. The Husker Athletic Department says it was time to refurbish the brand.
