North Omaha Church is Burglarized Again

OMAHA(KPTM)- Police are looking for the thief or thieves who broke in to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church early Sunday Morning.

Bob Hoff has worked as a groundskeeper for the church, located near 60th and Sorensen Parkway for seven years. Four years ago, air conditioning units were stolen from church. That's when Hoff took action, by placing a chain link fence around the replacement units and using a padlock on the gates.

Since then, Hoff said more thefts have occurred on the church's grounds. "At our community garden we had 200 feet of chain fence we were going to put over there and they stole the whole pile of fence."

The most recent theft includes three items: an air compressor, a tool box and a gas can full of fuel. The items were taken from a shed located behind the church. Hoff said the estimated value of the stolen goods is around three hundred dollars.

Hoff said police told him the thieves were likely looking for metal to steal and would likely strike again. Hoff has since installed another two locks on the garage. He said he has also alerted the security company who outfitted the garage with an alarm system to call 911 directly if a break-in is suspected.

If you have any information about the thefts call Crimestoppers at 402-444-STOP.
