Police Shoot and Kill South Omaha Man

UPDATE: Thursday morning Omaha Police identified the man that was shot as 30-year-old Willie Michalak. Police said he was wanted on felony arrest warrants out of Dodge County. They said he was wanted for burglary, theft and weapons charges.

Police said that officers from multiple agencies fired their weapons as they tried to approach Michalak.

This incident is being investigated by the Omaha Police Department's Officer-Involved Investigations Squad with the help of the United States Marshal Service and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Police said two officers have been placed on leave in this incident, per the department's policy.

OMAHA (KPTM) - One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in South Omaha Wednesday night.

It happened around 5:30 P.M. near 11th an Dorcas Streets. Omaha police say Fugitive Task Force members were looking for somebody wanted on a felony warrant. When they found him we're told a threat was made causing authorities to open fire on him. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Omaha police also told FOX 42 News no officers were injured and the person shot dead was a white man in his thirties.
