Omaha Police Announce Arrest in Old Market Assault Called Hate Crime
OMAHA (KPTM) - The Omaha Police Department says a man faces a felony assault charge for an October assault in the Old Market police are calling a hate crime.
Police say 35-year-old Gregory Duncan was with another man when they confronted a gay couple inside an Old Market restaurant.
The couple and a man who was with them say Duncan and the other man started yelling at them, using derogatory slurs and blocked them from leaving.
The man who was with them, Ryan Langenneger, was punched. Police say Duncan threw the punches.
Duncan faces a charge of 3rd degree assault, which is usually a misdemeanor, but since the attack is considered a hate crime, it will be a felony charge.
Police say Duncan was arrested Friday.
