Omaha Police Headquarters Gets A Makeover

OMAHA (KPTM)- Omaha Police now have more room to store evidence and new crime fighting tools.

It's part of a four and a half year renovation project.

"We have a new crime lab. It went from a work area of about 1200 square feet to over 6,000 square feet," said Adam Kyle, Omaha Police Captain.

It also comes with a state of the art crime scene tool that recreates crime scenes.

The workout area was completely rebuilt with funds donated by the "First Responder's Group."

The Department got an estimate of around $300,000.00 for the construction phase of the fitness area. Police personnel donated time to help with the project instead.

"We did it ourselves for under $20,000.00," said Kyle.

The entire project, funded with federal and city dollars, was priced at just under $2,000,000.00

"We saved the city up to three million dollars by being frugal and recycling materials," said Kyle.
