Omaha (KPTM) - Police have identified an Omaha man shot and killed in a parked car.

Police say they were called to the Mid-K Beauty Supply parking lot near 60th and Ames Streets around 3:30 p.m.

They found 29-year-old Darnell Haynes lying dead in a red Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Officers covered the vehicle with white sheets to hide the body.

Officer James Shade says there was a concourse of witnesses in the beauty supply as well as a Pizza Hut across the parking lot.

No arrests have been made, but police say they think two people may have been involved in the shooting and that they got away on foot.

Around 9 p.m. officials transported the body.

Haynes was convicted in 2009 for assaulting an officer. Nebraska Department of Correction Services records also indicate he had a release date in May of last year.

Omaha Police Department is offering a cash reward of $1000, and they ask anyone with information to call Omaha Crimestoppers at 402-444-STOP.
