OMAHA (KPTM) - It's going to be a big year for the sports world in Omaha.
2013 is poised to bring in some major revenue for the city. In fact, experts predict that when all is said and done Omaha will have collected more than $50 million in revenue. This week's Boat, Sports and Travel Show is just one of the many events the city has recently hosted.
"It's as good a venue as you're going to get anywhere in the country," proclaimed sports fan Phil Schlueter.
In addition to the sports show, Omaha also made headlines with the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January and will grab extra attention with the annual College World Series as well as the U.S. Senior Open in golf.
"The energy is great and the people are friendly," said Glenn Poppe of Omaha.
"It makes for a great quality of life," added Terrie White of Missouri Valley.
Adding to the quality of life are the benefits Omaha is poised to receive. That's because last year was a big money maker for the city as well. In fact, if you combine last year's sporting events with the ones this year, experts say you're looking at a combined total of revenue of more than $120 million.
