      Omaha in a Snow Emergency

      OMAHA (KPTM)- In preparation for a snow storm that is expected to drop 8 to 10 inches of snow Thursday, the city of Omaha will enforce snow emergency rules starting at midnight Friday morning.

      That means cars parked east of 72nd street will need to have their cars parked on the even number side of the street starting at midnight Friday morning.

      The snow emergency will be in effect for at least 24 hours.

      Saturday cars will have to park on the odd number side of the street.

      Other Snow Emergencies


      Blair: 6pm Thursday. In effect until 48 hours after the last snow falls.

      Glenwood, Iowa: 10 am Thursday. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street or City-owned parking lot, other than designated overnight parking areas. The snow emergency parking ban shall continue from its proclamation through the duration of the snow storm and the twenty-four hour period after cessation of such, or until the snow is plowed or removed from such areas.

      Gretna: 6 a.m Thursday through 5 p.m. Friday

      Lincoln: 6pm Wednesday. A snow emergency means parking is banned on emergency snow routes, bus routes and other major arterial streets. A map showing these routes can be found at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: snow) and in the blue pages of the Windstream phone directory. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.       Neola, IA: Snow emergency until 6pm Friday.

      Papillion: 7am Thursday until |Friday at 2pm. Residents are asked to not park on the street during this time. Residents with questions about the snow emergency can log on to the City's website -

      with questions or concerns about snow removal can call the Public Works Department at (402) 597-2043.

      Pottawattamie County- Snow emergency starting at noon on Thursday through 5 p.m. Friday. During the emergency, vehicles cannot be parked on or along any public roadway during snow removal operations.


      Tekamah: In effect until 12pm Saturday

      Waterloo: 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Friday

      Yutan: Noon Thursday through noon Saturday
