OMAHA(KPTM)- The nice weather on Monday didn'tmake driving around easier as more potholes start to make their appearance inOmaha.
Accordingto the Omaha city web site, potholes start to pop up more often in late winterand spring. As the snow and ice thawand melt, it causes water to leak down into cracks and expand, causing a largeproblem for drivers.
"Whenthe snow plows and the snow gets bad they scrape it up and it returns everywinter," said Garrett Watson.
At the end of Watson's drivewaysits a foot-and a half long pot hole. He said the city fills it every spring, and it gets bigger and worse every winter.
"I've got to deal with it pullingin and out. Hopefully you don't run over it and damage your vehicle," saidWatson.
If you can't avoid a pothole, thebest thing to do is slow down before you hit it and don't slam on the brakesaccording to Jim Ralston, of Ron's Garage Quality Auto Repair.
"(Hitting the brakes) May make that tire lock up and bendsomething even more," said Ralston.
