OMAHA (KPTM)- A 93-year-old Omaha woman was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night. Police said a teen sexually assaulted her Sunday, July 21st, 2013.
Thursday afternoon the Douglas County Attorney charged 19-year-old Sergio Perez with murder. He was originally charged with first-degree sexual assault, first degree assault, and burglary. He will face that charge in court Friday.
Investigators said Perez went into the woman's home and attacked her. They said he raped her and passed out on top of the woman.
According to reports, police were called to the woman's home around 9 a.m. Sunday morning. The woman's daughter heard her mother crying out for help and called police.
Officers said when they entered the bedroom they saw obvious signs of assault and found the 93-year-old woman covered in blood.
Police said they don't know how Perez got into the home, there was no sign of forced entry. They said he claimed he did not know his victim.
"What the charge is now is felony murder, first degree murder. That means he's charged with killing our victim," said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.
The victim is 93 year old Louise Sollowin who is described as a saint by her family members. Thursday's autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Joe Sollowin, Louise's son, said he was shocked to hear of his mother's death.
"To single out a 93 year old woman and beat her to a pulp and kill her and rape her, it disgusts me. How anyone could do this. I want to see him on the other side of the glass when they pull the lever down. That's what I want to see," Sollowin said.
More autopsy details are expected to be released in the next week.
The Douglas county attorney says Perez faces up to 120 years if convicted of all three charges. He is expected to be back in court August 12th.
