Savor the Season: Papillion shopper pays it forward
What would you do if someone walked up to you in a grocery store and paid for your groceries?
That's what FOX 42 and Hy-Vee are doing again this holiday season.
For the third year, we're back with our Savor the Season project.
Anchor Gia Vang surprised a shopper at the Hy-Vee on 178th Street in Papillion.
After Raechell received her groceries, she sent FOX 42 News a thank-you card. It reads, in part:
"My daughter told me, 'Pay it forward, Mom!' so I purchased several gift certificates from Hy-Vee, and I will give them to families I know are more in need than I am. I work with families of fallen military, so they will be the beneficiaries of your kindness."
Note that everyone who gets free groceries is picked at random and has no connection to Fox 42 or Hy-Vee.
We do not pay for alcohol, tobacco or prescription drugs.
