A message from FOX 42's General Manager
Some concerned viewers have asked about the controversy associated with promotional announcements seen in social media which have unfortunately become mired with misinformation. We have heard their concerns and want to address them directly. As a local news station, our first commitment is to our community and we strive every day to provide transparent coverage of the stories affecting us all.
The promotional announcement in question was provided by our parent company much the same way other networks share promotional material with their affiliates. Let me say that there was no mandate to adjust news coverage in any way. The piece in question was a promotional initiative focused on highlighting the fair and objective reporting we strive for and to reassure viewers of the value their trust means to our station. That message is relevant to all Sinclair news operations and therefore the duplication across multiple television markets. Locally, your Omaha station did address this promotional material within the FOX 42 9 PM News but we have not aired the promotional announcements in any other programming.
The reality is that we live here too. What affects you, affects us. Our focus is covering the stories with professionalism and fact-finding tenacity without contributing any bias of our own and this is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We are committed to providing thoughtful, well rounded, and immediate coverage of local news, sports, and weather.
Please know that every day our entire team of reporters, photographers, editors, producers, and anchors have one sole mission: to serve you and the people of our community. We assure you, your trust in us as a local news source is valued above all else.
Thank you for your viewership and your continued consideration.
