Bernie Sanders rallies for Democrats in Omaha
OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM)- The Nebraska Democratic Party hosted a rally at the Baxter Arena on Thursday called "Stand Up, Fight Back, Vote Democrats."
The rally was for Democratic candidates in Lincoln and Omaha city elections. The rally featured remarks from Senator Bernie Sanders, Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez, Omaha mayoral candidate Heath Mello and State Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb.
"Local elections matter. We impact climate change with strong leaders like Heath Mello committing to clean energy jobs. We rebuild the Democratic party with strong leaders like Jane Kleeb bringing the grassroots into party," said Senator Bernie Sanders. "Organizing is hard work but it wins elections. Nebraska Democrats are standing up with working class families to create a more connected community for real solutions."
"I'm running for Mayor of Omaha to build a more welcoming, innovative and connected city for the next generation," said Heath Mello. "Working class families in our city are looking for a new leadership, and that's why I'm so excited to speak about my vision for Omaha alongside Senator Sanders and Chairman Perez."
