Canfield's Sporting Goods to close after 70 years
OMAHA, Neb. —
After more than 70 years in business, a beloved Omaha business will close its doors.
Canfield's Sporting Goods opened in 1946.
But it says with warmer weather and increasing online competition.
The economic strain has been too much.
Employee-turned-owner Scott Marble took over the business in 2014.
Marble helped the shop evolve over time to include biking, hiking and paddling.
He said, "I started working here in college worked for the former owner and became good friends with and bought the store from and it's meant a lot."
The going-out-of-business sale is expected to go through January.
