Children build new outdoor playhouse as part of YouthBuild program
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) —
Children at the Hope Center For Kids now have a new playhouse, and it's all thanks to other kids.
The small, wooden building, called the Kids Cafe was built by people with the goodwill youth build program. It helps teach younger people building skills.
People with the Hope Center say the play center will teach kids real life skills like cooking and cleaning up after yourself.
They also say it will teach them what can happen to toys left out in the weather, so they'll learn responsibility too.
"It was a group effort that we all build, and it's really awesome to see what we finished and what we build together and what brings to the community and all the kids,” said Artin Macias, who helped build the playhouse.
Martin says he plans on going into the military to further his building skills and education.
