Fourth grader raises money for basketball lights to help other children

Brayden Brown says he thinks it's a good idea for kids to have a safe place to play so they can stay out of trouble.

One park in Millard will now have basketball lights.

That's all thanks to a fourth grader at Bryan Elementary.

Brayden Brown started a GoFundMe page to help raise money, and he's reached his goal of $850.

The idea was all part of his school project.

He says he thinks it's a good idea for kids to have a safe place to play so they can stay out of trouble.

"It would make me feel good about myself," Brown said. "It would make me feel like, 'Wow! I helped my community.'"

He has been in touch with the mayor's office and OPPD to find out the next steps.

Brown's goal is to get the ball rolling on the lights before school is out for the summer.
