Fugitive caught in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Grand Island Police said a Lancaster County fugitive has been caught.

Joel Watermeier, 49, is currently in the Hall County Jail, according to G.I.P.D.

A Lancaster County man is wanted on multiple warrants and is considered dangerous.

In September, the Metro Fugitive Task Force asked for help from the public to locate Watermeier. He was wanted for first-degree assault, first-degree false imprisonment and use of a weapon to commit a felony, according to a press release by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.

At the time, authorities said Watermeier was considered dangerous.

According to Hall County Corrections, Watermeier was booked into the jail shortly after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
