Home and Garden Expo showcases dogs available for adoption

Organizers say this event allows them to reach more people to try and find a home for these dogs.

The Omaha Home and Garden Expo was Sunday at the CenturyLink Center, and some furry friends came to keep everyone company.

The Nebraska Humane Society was at the event and showed off some dogs available for adoption.

People mostly come to these events to see the latest in home improvement projects, but volunteers say a pet can also do a lot for a home and your family.

Organizers say this event allows them to reach more people to try and find a home for these dogs.

"The rescue groups are here and that's great because a lot of people don't know that there are breeds specific rescues in town that can provide you a Boxer or a Beagle or a Pug or a Husky or whatever animal you're looking for," said Pam Weise of the humane society. "They specialize in those breeds so they have a lot of information about them and they also have some available dogs for adoption."
