I-29 Interstate Crossover and Lane Changes Starting Tuesday In Council Bluffs
COUNCIL BLUFFS (FOX42KPTM)- Starting Tuesday interstate users going through Council Bluffs should use caution when traffic on I-29 south of U.S. 275/IA 92 is reducing to one lane in each direction. There will also be a new northbound crossover pattern.
The area of caution begins at approximately mile marker 44.5 and continues north to approximately mile marker 47.4, near Mosquito Creek. This traffic configuration will be in place for approximately 2 months while construction crews work to finalize the construction of the new northbound lanes in the area of I-29 and the U.S. 275/IA 92 interchange.
Iowa DOT is in the process of reconstructing I-80, I-29 and I-480 in the Council Bluffs metropolitan area. Officials say the changes to the system will improve mobility and safety of approximately 18 miles of interstate. Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time while this interstate improvement takes effect.
