Local organizations collect toys, stockings for foster children
One Omaha organization has been making sure foster children get gifts this holiday season for more than 25 years.
The Omaha Quilting Guild has partnered with Nebraska Families Collaborative to collect toys and Christmas stockings.
The quilting group sews hundreds of stockings, pillowcases and blankets to be given as gifts.
Roughly 150 children will get a stocking and toys.
Dave Newell of the Nebraska Families Collaborative said, "The holidays are a challenging time for the kids and their families and this just makes their experience that much brighter and it's just a wonderful gift."
The Omaha Quilting Guild also raised and donated more than 12-thousand dollars to the Nebraska Families Collaborative.
