Omaha police say they have seen a rise in the number of people getting pick-pocketed in town.

They released a video on Facebook Tuesday with tips you can use to avoid getting hit.

The video shows just how good criminals are at robbing people even when they're right in front of them.

In the video, two criminals are getting ready to rob a woman's purse inside of Panera Bread.

You can see a thief put a scarf over a woman's purse.

A few moments later, you can see she is reaching into the purse looking for anything valuable, and it all happens while the purse's owner sits right across the table.

As soon as they find what they are looking for, they get up and leave.

Omaha police detective Shawna McClure said, "When you go into a restaurant, this is not attended to. We're not going to put it underneath our chair. So make sure if you absolutely have to have it, it's sitting on your lap, it's sitting on a table right next to you. Don't leave in vulnerable for thieves."
