Local woman has two cars stolen, purse and money

OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM) - Redeem Janet Lake now has one of her two cars back following a theft, but the news isn't all good because she still can't drive it.

"They tore all of the materials off," said Janet Lake. "I don't know why."

Whoever stole it caused lots of damage, including dings and dents. There was also a cigarette left behind underneath a passenger seat.

"I just don't understand. I'm living day-to-day now because I don't have anything. Everything is gone."

Everything including her second car along with her purse with money and credit cards inside. Janet Lake says the thieves used those cards at local stores. Now, she's broke.

"Eight cents. That's all they left in one of my accounts."

Whoever is responsible for the crime also left behind tire tracks causing a lot of damage to Janet Lake's yard.

Omaha police do have at least one lead. Investigators believe a surveillance picture from inside a HyVee might break the case wide open. Janet Lake hopes it leads to an arrest.

"I don't know what the future holds for me right now. I'm just depending on God."

With two kids under the age of 15 living with her, she's now trying to figure out ways to get money back.

"That is my main concern right now."

If you have a tip you believe may help investigators, Omaha police urge you to give them a call.
