Man "stabbed numerous times" while walking near 26th, Poppleton, police say

A man is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being "stabbed numerous times" at 26th and Poppleton streets overnight, police say.

Officers were called to the area at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a report of a cutting.

There, they were notified by dispatch that a witness had taken the victim, Francisco Gaspar, to the Nebraska Medical Center.

Officers then went to the medical center and spoke with Gaspar.

He told police he was walking in the area of 26th and Poppleton when a man in a car approached him.

Police say a fight ensued, and by the time the incident ended, Gaspar noticed he had been stabbed numerous times.
