Men arrested after I-80 traffic stop reveals 60 pounds of pot, deputies say

Two New Jersey men are behind bars after officials say a search of their car revealed 60 pounds of marijuana Thursday.

At around 9 p.m., a Douglas County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy stopped a car with Arizona license plates on eastbound Interstate 80 near 108th Street for a moving traffic violation.

During the stop, a deputy became suspicious of driver Justin Saldana and passenger Brian Quiroga-Fernandez when they gave conflicting reasons for their travel.

Deputies decided to deploy K-9 Fletch to sniff the outside of the car, which alerted them the presence of illegal drugs.

They found several vacuum-sealed bags of suspected marijuana that totaled 60 pounds after searching the car.

Saldana and Quiroga-Fernandez were booked at the Douglas County Department of Corrections for charges including possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
