Moving day at Ronald McDonald House means more than 'just a renovation'
OMAHA, Neb. —
Friday was moving day for people who stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Blackstone.
It's a temporary move to UNO dorms while the building is renovated and expanded.
The Ronald McDonald House is where families of sick children can stay while they're treated at the hospital.
Victoria Samarripa, who stays there, said, "It means a lot. This house does everything for you. It has literally a lot of connections, and it's like a breather."
Lindsey Rai Kortan of the RMCD House said, "It's not just a renovation. It's a change in the model for how we provide care and hope."
More people plan to move out Saturday, and that's when the Ronald McDonald House is hosting a garage sale.
It starts at 7 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. at 620 South 38th Ave.
Organizers say they are selling various items from around the house, including furniture, appliances, fixtures, counters, cabinets, household items and more.
