Nebraska governor hopeful Bob Krist registers as Democrat
OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM) - A Nebraska state senator hoping to unseat Governor Pete Ricketts has changed his party registration from Nonpartisan to Democrat.
The move follows another move made by Krist when he made the switch from Republican to Nonpartisan.
Krist's political service in the legislature began nine years ago when he was appointed by then-Governor Dave Heineman. At that time, he was a Republican. Last September, however, Krist announced his intention to run for governor as a Nonpartisan.
Between then and now, Krist has faced legal challenges because of state requirements on third-party candidates to qualify for the ballot.
The Douglas County Election Commission confirmed Krist's registration change Monday.
