Nebraska Vietnam veterans honored with special trip to DC

For Cheryl Feala, the one-day tour in Washington D.C. was a lot more than just a quick trip.

"They gave so much," said Feala. "It's been quite a whirlwind."

The Nebraska native is one of more than 600 military veterans from the state on what's called "the final mission."

The Nebraska native is one of more than six-hundred military veterans from the state on what's called the "final mission."

They were flown to our nation's capital on an honor flight thanks to the nonprofit group Patriotic Productions.

All of them served in vietnam. Their first stop after getting off the plane was to the Vietnam Memorial wall.

"Everybody has always had one another's back," said Feala. "That's important to me."

On the wall are the names of 395 brave service members from the state of Nebraska.

The organizers of the trip say none of them will ever be forgotten.

Before saying one final goodbye the veterans watched this wreath presentation.

For Feala, it was an emotional ending.

"it's humbling. Very humbling," Feala.
