Omaha police teach teens and adults with autism to be safe
Police officers from the metro and surrounding areas are learning about how to interact with people who have autism.
Officers were paired up with someone with autism and showed them what to do in variety of situations.
The group also watched videos and talked about how to have safe interactions.
Officer Jeffery Kilgore said this kind of training is important.
"We don't have a lot of training in this area, and it's really important because the miscommunication that could go on, it could be a dangerous situation for them or for us."
More than 25 police officers attended the training Wednesday.
