Omahans take on role of refugee in simulation
OMAHA, Neb. —
A one-of-a-kind refugee simulation event allowed local refugees to connect with their Omaha neighbors Friday.
Around 150 community participants were split into groups, and each group got a tote bag filled with typical belongings a refugee might have with them when they arrive in Nebraska.
The groups visited with refugees who shared their emotional journeys to freedom.
This event was put together by Creighton University's Schlegel Center for Service and Justice in partnership with Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska.
