Papillion fourth graders take historic tour
It was quite the trip back in time for some fourth graders in Papillion.
On Friday, children got tours of some historic buildings in the downtown area.
They made a stop at the Old Portal School, which is a one-room school house.
Students sat at old desks, and some even dressed up for the occasion.
The students then crossed over to the courthouse for more lessons in history.
"Love an opportunity to get them excited about a topic, you know, finding the little things for them to identify with," said Ron Rockenbach of the Papillion Area Historical Society.
Students also made a stop at an old farmhouse in town.
Teachers, volunteers and law enforcement pulled it all together for children.
The Papillion Historical Society had a big hand in the event, too.
