Parents in Council Bluffs petition for vote to fund school renovations
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (FOX42KPTM) —
Some people who live within the Council Bluffs Community School District have started a petition, and the ultimate goal is to fund two renovation projects.
School officials say contractors have determined that Wilson Middle School and Kirn Middle School need upgrades. The problem is, the school district says right now there is no way to pay for the renovations.
Some the of the improvements would include:
- Mechanical and operational upgrades
- Security enhancements
- Building accessibility
To make it all happen, school officials say a bond would need to be voted on by the people in the district.
According to a news release FOX42 News received on Tuesday, these are the terms:
- 20 year bond
- $37 million
- Increase the average person's property tax by $31 a year
