TECUMSEH, Ne (FOX42KPTM)- Three staff members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution were attacked by an inmate Thursday evening.

Prison officials say it happened in a housing unit where staff members were removing several inmates who were under the influence of homemade alcohol.

Officials say a corporal was hit in the head and knocked on the ground while trying to handcuff an inmate. Officials say that same inmate attacked another corporal who was trying to restrain another inmate. That staff member had to get five stitches. He also chipped a tooth and had another tooth knocked loose. Officials say the inmate also bit a caseworker in the thigh.

Two of the staff members were treated at a hospital and released. The caseworker didn't need treatment.

Officials say they didn't need to lock down the unit.
