Pro boxer who fought Terence Crawford last year is moving to Omaha
OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM) - The professional boxer Terence Crawford is a household name. Now, the man he defeated in the ring last year is hoping to make a name for himself in town.
Last August, Julius Indongo's fight against Terence Crawford was a memorable one.
"I adopted this system that losing is a part of the game," said Indongo.
To date, Indongo has lost only once at the pro level and that was to Crawford in Lincoln at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Indongo is now calling Omaha home. He comes all the way from Africa.
"I feel so happy to be here," said Indongo.
Together with his manager Tuesday, Indongo was working to hone his skills. He has future fights to prepare for and he wants to be ready.
"I'm not surprised by his success and his desire to get back on top of the 140 pound division," said Michael Carter, Indongo's manager.
At CW Boxing Club, Carter told FOX 42 News he believes the training facility will help Indongo and that the place is special.
"There's a lot of history in this gym and to be able to bridge that history with Julius Indongo is tremendous."
At CW Boxing Club, a lot of training has been happening inside the walls. It's the same place where a young Terence Crawford got his start and Indongo says he plans to put in a lot of hours there.
"This is all encouraging," said Indongo.
Before losing to Crawford, Indongo had won 22 straight times at the pro level. Eleven of those victories came by knockout.
