Rally aims to promote gender equality, support sexual assault victims
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) —
An event in downtown Omaha Sunday is uniting women and men to talk about a somewhat painful topic.
People from all walks of life were at Gene Leahy Mall, sharing their stories of sexual assault.
There was also free food and live music.
One woman says it gives people a voice that they didn't have before.
"Our community came together to create space for voices that often to unheard,” said Danielle Powell. “We laughed, we cried, we shared our stories, stories that have never been uttered, words that have never been spoken. We did it to support one another."
People were also able to take pre-made signs or make signs of their own for future rallies.
