Snowy and cold sums up April's first week as Old Man Winter sticks around

Snowy and cold sums up April's first week as Old Man Winter sticks around

Five days a week, Megan Jones makes her daily trip from her home in Council Bluffs to her work in West Omaha.

Just when she thought she was home free, on Friday morning some snow came down.

"I walked out this morning, I thought oh well, what are you going to do," said Jones. "It was wet and then it started to actually snow a little bit probably 20 minutes into the commute. It really wasn't that bad."

She says the problem is more the mindset.

It's April and spring, yet it's also snowy and cold.

The city of Omaha did have some plow trucks on the roads.

Crews in Sarpy County say they had to put their springtime prep on hold to tackle the wintry elements.

"We are ready as you can see we're ready to go either to haul dirt on Monday or plow snow on Sunday," said Rod Ripley, who manages the Sarpy County Public Works department.

Jones says she'll just be patient.

"Crank up the heat, and a lot of blankets, and again spring is coming, it's just going to take a little bit longer," she said.
